This week, Primary classes got an introduction to drawing and painting digitally. It sure doesn't feel the same as holding a paintbrush, but we are able to create some amazing effects in our art!

Our monster parade was a success! Thanks to all families who made a point to drive by and honk and wave! A chilly morning, but a beautiful one for the Monsters!
Artist in the School (AIS) is such a fantastic program to get student creativity flowing! Nicole Bauberger is here for a few days at the end of this month to help make monsters come alive. Check back and see how our Monster Parade unfolds:)
These past couple of weeks have been fun with the Laser Printer. Students have been designing on the computers and painting their creations. Although we were a little bit limited in our computer program use, due to some technology glitches, we could go in-depth this time around, but when we get the laser printer again, we will be ready!
We have been fortunate to have the week and the new Truth and Reconciliation day to help kick off our learning about Residential School, and continue our learning this year. Arts Education students participated in story reading by Regional Chief Kluane Adamek and Senator Pat Duncan, as well as created art work to honour indigenous children who went to Residential Schools.
This week, ESES Students got their first taste of the stage! Playing a variety of improv games is helping students to be quick on their feet, come up with witty things to say, avoid hesitation, and work on saying YES to the drama. This week definitely has Ms Bartle in laughing-tears and stitches!
International Dot Day is a celebration of Peter H. Reynolds book, The Dot, and our inner artist. With a little Growth Mindset, we all can become great and inspire one another. Elijah Smith Students participated this week in making all kinds of Dot Art to celebrate!
Marimba, Orff, Xylophones! Whatever you call them, they can be such a fun way to explore music. From note reading, improvisation, and story drama, to fun rhythmic harmonies and keeping the beat, playing on these instruments are a lot of fun. This week, K-7 students have had the chance to explore the music making.
It's been a lot of sunny sunshine this week and we have been exploring our own school backyard. Each class has had their own art mission, to look closer at local plants growing around us. I don't want to rush it, but Fall is such a beautiful time --the cranberries, the soapberries, the mossberries are all out an about as the fireweed shouts out its warm and vibrant reds and oranges and yellows. Classes have been exploring paint tints and shades, modelling clay, natural dyes, and more! Check out our Aug/September Visual Arts Gallery!
